CENTER OF KNOWLEDGE AND PROGRESS

Green future for all

Creating and designing sustainable mobility

Green Heart of the City

The Center for Green Technologies was established through a collaboration between the University of Nova Gorica and the Municipality of Nova Gorica as a response to the challenges of modern green solutions development and sustainable future management.

ABOUT US

Creating and designing sustainable mobility

The Green Technology Center enables the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the fields of circular economy and sustainable development.

Through industry-oriented research, technological, and expert support, it facilitates the transfer of knowledge and technologies into manufacturing companies, agricultural activities, as well as urban and natural environments.

Industry

We develop solutions for efficient energy use, reduced environmental impact, and a circular economy.

Agriculture

We seek solutions for minimizing the environmental impact of modern and efficient agriculture.

Urban Environment

We design green transition solutions for a more enjoyable future of urban living.

Sustainable Strategies

We develop strategies for sustainable practices and minimizing environmental impact
ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Technical and technological solutions

  • Green Hydrogen
  • Other Green Technologies
  • Energy Storage
  • Efficient Agriculture

We focus on technological solutions that we either implement in new environments or develop entirely new solutions for specific challenges in industry and agriculture.

SUSTAINABLE LIFE

Green Transition Services

  • Life Cycle Assessment
  • Priprava trajnostnih zelenih rešitev pri gradnji in zelenem razvoju mest
  • Strategije zelenih mest

We seek solutions that reduce environmental impact and enable more sustainable living in the future, both in urban and rural areas.

Director dr. Matjaž Valant and researcher dr. Uroš Luin published a professional article on Science Direct about a thermochemical circular technology based on iron chloride for energy storage and hydrogen production. This cycle allows for the reuse of waste heat (<250°C) for more efficient energy storage in materials (Fe, HCl). This offers an alternative to direct hydrogen storage, which can be risky for large-scale and long-term storage. The technology is suitable for bridging seasonal renewable energy surpluses from summer to winter months. You can read the article here.

16.11.2023 – We are announcing a call for the appointment of the Director of the Green Technology Center. The Director will be appointed for a five-year term and will serve in a non-professional capacity. You can read more about the call here.

Experts of  the Green technology Center obtained a license from the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia (Spirit) and are listed in the register of experts for conducting life cycle assessment of the product.

CZT and the University of Nova Gorica signed a cooperation agreement, granting CZT access to the latest research and development equipment.

The Green Technology Center joined a strategic partnership for the development of Nova Gorica, involving partners such as GOLEA, MIC Nova Gorica, Primorski Technological Park, the Regional Development Agency of Northern Primorska, the University of Nova Gorica, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia for Northern Primorska, and the Regional Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Nova Gorica.

On December 21, 2022, the Green Technology Center, with the full name Green Technology Center, Research, and Development Ltd., or shorter, GTC was founded by the Municipality of Nova Gorica and the University of Nova Gorica.
